About Gilmour Bank

Nestled in the Scottish lowlands, on the edge of the Annan Valley, close to the Solway Firth lies Gilmour Bank Farm.

Established in 2003, We have been caring and farming alpacas for over 14 years.

Our alpaca family has grown and grown and now we have 80 alpacas and we are expecting the arrival of 15 crias (babies) this year.

We utilise the beautiful fleeces from our alpacas and hand spin the fleece to produce our own yarn and a range of knitted garments

Our Alpacas

Our alpacas enjoy over 90 acres of peaceful and undisturbed pasture. We do not subject our animals to the rigours and stresses of shows.

However, you are welcome to visit us by appointment to view our alpacas in their familiar surroundings. Contact Us to get in touch and to arrange a visit.

Our Farm

Gilmour Bank Alpaca Farm is just outside Lochmaben, a small burgh, surrounded by seven lochs and steeped in Scottish history.

Robert Bruce had a castle here, the remains of which can still be seen beside the Castle Loch. The descendants of many of the fiercely proud clansmen who fought alongside Robert the Bruce and were known as the Border Raiders can still be traced through to the local people today.
